The Dorf featuring FM Einheit

Skalitzer Str.130, 10999 Berlin
Festsaal Kreuzberg presents a big band night of the special kind.
The Dorf is a huge 25-piece collective that grew out of a sort of utopian socio-musical experiment deep in the heart of the German rustbelt. Their unique mix of powerful, unmediated krautrockjazzfreecollectivesoundsculptureenergymusic has gone on to bring smiles to many many faces at both jazzfests & stadtfests alike. They’ve opened for Ornette Coleman & closed for your local gesangsverein, with equal enthusiasm. This is their first Berlin concert, a collaboration with Einsturzende Neubauten drummer FM Einheit & it promises to be a very entertaining evening.
“They go out under a funny name (…) and they’re on Leo. So you’re not going to like them. Too “avant-garde”, scratchy and abstract. Right? Wrong. This is the most exciting record Leo Feigin has ever released. That’s not to say it’s the subtlest or he most important but certainly the most rawly exciting, contemporary big band music of the most compelling sort.” (Brian Morton, JazzReview, UK)
“Grandios opulenter Bombast-Jazz, der schärfste Big-Band-Sound seit Gil Evans selig und der Hammer für jedes Festival.” (Sven Thielmann, Stereoplay)
